Just like any other dental insurance plan, Medicaid and CHIP can be hard to navigate due to varying coverage and complicated policies. Fortunately, our team at Amaze Dental are experts at filing claims, helping educate patients about how to stay on top of their oral health, and maximizing coverage. If you have CHIP or Medicaid, we welcome you to bring your family to our practice, where our Medicaid dentist will take care of you and provide you with the high-quality, trustworthy care you deserve.
CHIP (The Children’s Health Insurance Program) and children’s Medicaid both offer dental coverage for children under 18 years old. In Texas, you can receive a plan through DentaQuest, MCNA Dental, or United Healthcare Dental, and most of these plans have annual maximums around $500-$600. However, even if your child does meet their annual maximum, they can still receive coverage for preventive, diagnostic, and medically-necessary services that are approved by their policy.
Both children’s Medicaid and CHIP members are able to receive coverage for the following dental services from a children’s dentist:
Services that typically won’t be covered by CHIP or children’s Medicaid plans are general anesthesia or IV sedation, orthodontic treatment, and cosmetic services. If you’d like to learn whether a specific treatment is covered for your child, we recommend reaching out to your policy provider directly.
Medicaid dental for adults is gained by meeting Texas’ state requirements for coverage. In Texas, Medicaid only really covers emergency dental services for adults, not orthodontics, restorative, or preventive care. However, our team at Amaze Dental offers an in-house savings plan that can help you save on basic treatments and covers your preventive dental care after you pay one, flat annual rate. The key to a smile that stays healthy and avoid needing invasive treatments is to keep up with you and your child’s preventive dental visits. When you get young children used to visiting the dentist, it will encourage them to build healthy oral habits and get the most out of their smiles. Plus, our team is happy to accommodate our patients in any way we’re able to, including by accepting dental insurance, Medicaid, and CHIP, as well as offering our discounted in-house savings plan.
